"As unbelievable as it may seem, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires by law that pesticides be tested on dogs, who are shoved into "inhalation chambers" where they try in vain to escape the deadly poisons that are pumped in. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires companies marketing fluoride products to swab the teeth of 200 rats with the test substance for two weeks... A lethal poisoning test invented around the time of World War I--in which animals are force-fed increasing doses of a chemical until they die--is still the single most common animal test in use today."

"Most of the animals that are used in testing are bred just for testing, but many others come from the pound. Mice, rabbits, dogs, guinea pigs, cats and monkey’s are the most commonly used animals for tests"

Last Call for New Admins!
We've already had a few applications, but before we decide for sure, we wanted to make sure everyone who wanted to apply gets a chance to!
So, as I'm sure most of you have noticed, alaeries (https://www.deviantart.com/alaeries) and I have been ridiculously busy with college lately, and haven't been able to keep the group as active as we'd like to. Instead of just giving up and shutting down, we're going to see if any of you guys would like to help out!
Admin duties consist solely of accepting and rejecting submissions, and explaining your reasoning only when asked by the person who submitted their art. Yep, that's all you have to do! So, if you're an animal lover, an art

Calling All Animal/Wolf Artists! + Contest
Today, I stumbled across a journal by Kaleena01 (https://www.deviantart.com/kaleena01), whose best friend--a fellow animal and nature lover--has recently committed suicide. In honor of her, Kaleena01 (https://www.deviantart.com/kaleena01) is looking for anyone who would be willing to make art in her memory for her friends and family. If you'd be willing to help with this cause, please see the journal: http://kaleena01.deviantart.com/journal/40762472 :)
In other news, the Animal Personality Contest deadline has been extended to June 30th: http://animal-love-club.deviantart.com/blog/39036039/ . Please consider participating! :)
Help us become a Supergroup! (+ Contest Reminder)
It's about time the ALC took the next step up: supergroup status. If you'd like to see more animal activism, regular features of your work/contest entries, a better layout, CSS, nested folders, and more... just donate a few points and it can happen! :)
If you're interested in helping us get a supergroup subscription or want to help fund contest prizes, just donate a few points to ALCpoints (https://www.deviantart.com/alcpoints)--your generosity will be greatly appreciated. Those who donate 30+ :points: will be featured by the group, WaterandSnails (https://www.deviantart.com/waterandsnails), and on the point account's page!
Also, don't forget about the animal personality contest: http://animal-love-club.deviantar

I can offer a journal feature so long as somebody from this group (namely an admin) reminds me to do so (:
oh and btw is it possible for me to offer the winner a literary commision (meaning a poem, prose, story, whatever) free of charge based on any animal theme of their choosing? I know it's not much but thats all i can think of....
